Primitives
after spending
three days shivering
inside a tent counting
the distance between sword-flash and
echoing hoof-beats
after wondering whether a roof
can ever again be water-proof
suddenly robins.
winged emissaries
promises of reconciliation
and the sun appeared
glorious
as a god
Thank you, dear Patty.
So much rain here, day after soggy day…my mind just went back to 1993 when I wrote this piece about thunderstorms in South Dakota while we were camping with the kids.

Good morning, my dearest Friend Joan. I hope this comment finds the sunshine shining for you. If not, never fear, it’s still shining behind the clouds.
You read my mind and answered my question of “Where did the inspiration come for this?” without my needing to ask.
Thanks for the lovely poem and for the backstory.
Have an incredible day.
