The Grumpy Old King #Journal

AUGUST 13, 2020.

MOON PHASE WANING CRESCENT.

The day began for me at half past 5 this early morning. After being awake so late the night before due to my need to see a book through to its end I found it quite annoying, but try as I might, going back to sleep just wasn’t in the cards.

Reluctant to leave my comfy nest, with Campbell snoring snuggly by my side, I stayed until I could be comfortable in bed no more.

Once up I found that I was struck with a desperate craving for a strong, hot cup of coffee. It seemed as if I could smell it in the air. It was all I could do to make myself wash my face, brush teeth and hair and have a bottle of water. I knew I must do it for to lose the routine would indeed derail the entire day.

When I’d finally accomplished the morning’s routine, which also included squats, crunches, and stretches, I celebrated with an exuberant cheer which brought a disgruntled King Campbell bumbling into the kitchen to see what the fuss was about and if it might involve food.

Upon learning there was no food to be had he gave a mighty sneeze and rather harsh jingly jangly shake and went stomping off to his room where I heard him thump down with a loud sigh of disgust.

“King Campbell!” I called, continuing with my exuberant joy, “I’m sorry I troubled his majesty. Please do go back to sleep.”

“Woof!” was his only reply.

Once coffee was to hand and I was comfortably curled in my recliner I began the task of going through all my notifications and answering those which I deemed most important and saving those I believed could wait.

When my cup was empty and notifications were sorted, I set about the task of motivating the old king for his morning walk.

Soon, we were out in the yard but once his majesty had done his business and checked all the corners of the yard, he led me back to the front steps and demanded to be let back inside.

“Gees! You’re grumpy this morning.” I stated as I allowed him back into the house.

“Sneeze. Shake. Stomp.” Was his reply.

“Fine!” I declared. I’ll fix your breakfast and you may go back to bed.”

When he was settled on his throne, I went back to my coffee and began the work for the day.

Now, here it is just before sundown, I’ve a full belly and a cold beer waiting in the wings.

I’ve accomplished quite a bit this day but there is more yet to do.

I’m off to open a beer and see what the evening may hold.

Until next time this is Patty who is enjoying a sliver of sunshine which is peeping through the clouds, and the grumpy old king who is snoring mightily on his throne saying…

May harmony find you and blessid be.

      Hi Crystal.

I know that’s right. He’s snoring up a storm this morning. We stayed up again last night. We’ve taken to having a siesta in the late afternoons during the heat of the day and then staying up in the evenings. LOL.

I think that was part of his grump fest yesterday, I had him up too early for his liking.

      Thanks for reading and commenting.

This morning I was chiding myself because I had written that. I thought, “Why on earth would anyone want to read about that?”

I used to write such interesting pieces when he and I were working together and were out and about all the time. I miss those days, but at the same time I feel it’s important to write about what it’s like to have an older dog who is retired from guiding. It is rather challenging at times.

      LOL.

It can of course also be a lot of fun.

      Food For Thought

We all are the Light, automatically. So we really don’t have to go too much further than that. We all have a Light within us – it is the Soul; it is that spark of God, of the Divine, that activates our consciousness.
