The ancient Egyptian goddess, Isis, is a goddess of magic, fertility and motherhood, death, healing, and rebirth. The first daughter of the god of the god of the Earth, Geb, and the goddess of the sly, Nut, she was born on the first day of the first years of creation. She is the sister of Osiris, who later became her husband, and Set and Nephthys. With Osiris, she had a son, Horus. In Egyptian mythology Isis is also known as Auset, Eset or Aset, all words that are frequently associated with the word throne.

Isis is one of the most complete and all-encompassing figures of Egyptian mythology and symbolism. Popular throughout the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms of ancient Egypt her worship continued past the end of Pharaohic Egypt.
