THOUGH LITTLE GLITCHES ABOUND IF ONE LOOKS GOLDEN NUGGETS ARE SURE TO BE FOUND

JANUARY 2019
Hello to all. I hope this writing finds you doing super great.
Today has been one of those days that require one to hunt for nuggets of gold, but because I decided to live by my own affirmation of, ‘have a great day, and remember you’re the only one who can make it that way’ even though I’ve had a few glitches along the way there have most certainly been golden nuggets to be found.
First thing’s first. I must update you on me and King Campbell, Super Seeing Eye Dog A.K.A Bubba.
As you who follow me regularly know, Campbell has been having a few issues that have affected his will to work, and his ability to cope while out and about in crowded places. Today, he had a good day and I want to start this post by telling you about that.
We woke like any other day at just after 6 in the morning. Neither of us were ready to do anything much and so as I made my way to the bathroom to wash my face, brush my teeth and hair and take care of my necessary Campbell made his way to one of his many beds.
When I came into the Livingroom he was flopped out in his place in the corner and had already started snoring loudly again. So, I headed for the coffee pot and a cup of morning strength.
Once coffee and morning emails were had it was time to take Campbell for his first relief time of the day and I knew right then that for Campbell this was going to be a good day.
He was bouncing excitedly from foot to foot by the door as he waited for me to get on my shoes and coat and it was not his I-got-to-go-pee-pee dance but more like his, come-on-mom! I want to go for a walk!
Once outside he showed me very quickly what he wanted. After he’d made certain to water the grass alongside the walk leading from the front door to the gate, he tugged me toward the walk leading down the block. Knowing that it was to start raining some time today and not being sure when that would be, I decided that a good walk down the block and back was a good idea and let him have his head.
I must say it did my heart good to see such spunk in his step and when we got home from a lively sniff-fest during which he took his time and sniffed each blade of grass and corner in turn he ran round the house with a toy in his mouth making excited GRR noises as he went.
Later when it came time for our mid-morning walk it had not yet started raining and once again Campbell asked to be allowed to go for a walk down the block and back. I was very happy to see his energy level had risen so much and I wondered if he would go with me to the store in the afternoon, I had scheduled a pick up with the curbside service so I could go and pick up things to make ready for an upcoming weather system which is to make its way through later this week.
Campbell showed me in a big way that today was one of his best days in a while when the van pulled up just after 1 O’clock this afternoon. When it pulled up and parked in front of the house, before I could even get my computer shut down, out of my chair and into my shoes, Campbell was waiting at the door once again bouncing from foot to foot as if he were saying…
“Gees woman! Can you not get ready any quicker?” I had to laugh as he practically dragged me down the porch steps and quick as a flash to the gate and then onto the van waiting at the curb.
Once at the store he was more than happy to make his way from the entrance to the service desk and when we got there he wagged proud as could be when I praised him and then he lay down to wait for whatever we were to do next and when it came time to check out he was happy to visit with other shoppers standing in line and a couple staff members as well. This I must say did my heart good as he has not been very friendly of late.
Once we returned home, he gave my face a good washing as I took off his harness and then he proceeded to bring me his tug rope and though it did not last long he played a little game of tug with me before getting a drink of water and then curling up on the loveseat for a nap.
While I know this behavior is not going to be consistent, I must say it was a great pleasure to have him alongside me today. I believe two things were working in our favor. First, it was 60 degrees out and had not yet started raining. Also, today was his day for pain meds with his breakfast and they do seem to be working quite well.
Another golden nugget I found while going through this day has been a writing class. It was well within my budget, there were several different ones to choose from and the lessons will give me an opportunity to do some polishing of my skills while learning a few new tricks along the way.
I found these classes at: https://www.dailyom.com/ and I recommend you check them out.
For now, it’s the end of the day all in all Campbell and I have had a good day and so before I find a way to wreck all the progress we’ve made I’m simply going to go, have an early dinner, finish a book I’ve been reading and end the day on a positive note.
For now, this is Patty who is glad she’s learned not to let little glitches ruin her whole day and King Campbell Super Seeing Eye Dog A.K.A Bubba who has had a fine day himself saying…
may harmony find you and blessid be.
Wonderful! So thrilled it was a great day for both Campbell and you. Those days are true blessings.
