A Blessing a Day For the Month of May

A Blessing a Day For the Month of May

A Tribute to the United Way of Greater Kingsport and the Meals On Wheels program.

Stretched out in the morning sun, the day barely begun.
Feeling tired and warn, my body from lack of sleep feeling ripped and torn.
The silent day it did surround, and in the warmth of the sun a respite it was found.
A little later as I stood and stretched, a nap I did fetch.
There came a knocking upon my door, a meal for me did come once more.
A moment’s chat with a volunteer, my spirit it did cheer.
The box placed into my hand, still warm as smiling I did stand.
Taking it into the kitchen to see what would be, I had no idea the blessing that would be bestowed upon me.
There was cornbread stuffing casserole with baked shredded turkey or chicken I could not tell because it was done so very well.
Cranberry sauce in a little cup for me that would’ve been quite enough.
But as the box I did continue to explore I did find there was much much more.
Cooked carrots in butter too, what a treasure yes that’s true.
Then a finishing touch, just a small thing not that much.
A bit of sweetness to round it out, a tiny cupcake I did take out.
With chocolate icing just enough to make my day.
A wonderful lunch to help me along my way.
Once eaten I felt anew.
My energy it had been renewed.
So, on this first day of May I decided right away to count one blessing each and every-day.
During this the merry month of May.

  1. What a nice reflection on your day. I felt like I stood there beside you looking into your box of goodies for the day. Mmmmm. I’ll eat the cupcake first, I thought. Chocolate is just too hard to put aside when it is right there in my hands. I like the idea of you thinking of one blessing for each day. This is a wonderful outlook on life and just to center your thoughts in this way will spread the joy to others who read this. Have a most blessed day – all day, today.

Many times I eat desert first.

Also I have had a hard time writing my blessings each day.

Not because I do not have blessings each day but because I’m so busy enjoying them.

As you read onward to other blessing a Day posts you’ll see that some days I wrote of several at one time.

The month is coming to a close and I’ll be writing a special post to end this series.

      Have a great day.

If you like share a blessing of your own in the comments.

      Love to you.
