BUBBA TAILS: Sneezing Sniffing and Wishing In the Campbell Kingdom

Bubba Tails: Sneezing Snorting Snuffing and Wishing in the Campbell Kingdom
Told By,
King Campbell Lee Super Seeing Eye Dog
A.K.A Bubba
April 20, 2018

Hello all you wonderful human visitors of campbellsworld.
King Campbell here with another tail) tale for you.
I am sneaking to write while mom is busy cleaning up the house.
So, I must work fast. Besides, my nose gets tired and I sneeze if I type too long.
See it’s already begun.
Anyhow, I must tell you of the fun time my human mother and I had in the yard this day. It is just too good to keep.
You see, for me spring is a favorite time of year. After all April is the month that my human mother and I came to be together.
Come to think of it we have been together for 7 whole human years this month.
Hmmm? Seems like only yesterday…
AWW well, I’m getting side-tracked, and really, I must tell you of this adventure we had.
Like I say, spring is one of my favorite times of year because there are so many wonderful scents to sniff.
I was lazing on the loveseat in a wonderful patch of sun when suddenly, my human mother got up out of her chair, grabbed her shoes, and declared that it was turning into such a beautiful day that we must get out and enjoy it.
Once she had her shoes on, and that dang blast it cane my wise and ancient Trainer Drew used to call a tap whacker and had put my leash onto my collar we were out the door and off.
As we stepped down off our little front porch into the sun and fresh air my nose was on the ground following a scent.
Seemed like there had been a creature with little feet in my yard and I must investigate.
My nose went with my human mother holding fast to the other end of my leash tapping along to keep our way.
You see my human mother is so kind that she does not make me work in the yard. She uses that tap whacker to find her way and stay out of holes and away from other things that might make her trip.
I do keep an eye out for things that tap whacker might miss but this day I really felt I’d found something interesting in the yard.
There were many other smells mixed with this, so I couldn’t be sure, but I was thinking rabbit, or maybe duck.
I heard my mother telling someone yesterday there had been a duck in the yard. Now why she did not tell me of this and allow me to take care of it I have no idea.
I am the king after all for goodness sake.
Anyhow, just as I was really getting into the sniffing portion of my work mom interrupted me by tugging my leash and saying, “Campbell park time. That’s what we’re out here for you know?”
I wanted to correct her and let her know that no, we are out here to sniff up the things that have trespassed in my kingdom, but I did not.
I just did as she asked, and after I’d parked and was feeling admittedly somewhat better I was back on the trail.
Slowly we made our way round the edge of the fence with me sniffing mightily all the way.
Just when I thought I might really find the creature’s hideout my mom tugged my darn leash saying…
“Bubba, let’s go this way. OK?”
“CA-CHEW! No!” I sneezed.
“It is not OK.”
She did not understand.
“CA-CHEW!” I sneezed more loudly, but still she did not understand.
I sneezed, but still she did not know that I must go the other way.
“Oh! How I wish I had the rest of this fence done.”
My human mother said as we walked.
“I’d let you go where ever you pleased.” She mused.
I thought this was a wonderful idea.
I sneezed so hard in agreement with her that I tipped myself over.
Before I knew it, I was so excited that I’d gotten myself rolling and soon was all tangled into my leash.
“Oh! Bubba.”
My human mother laughed as she untangled me, “You are such a funny pup. Even at 9-years-old you are still just a big Rolly puppy.”
After I’d licked her all over we continued walking and soon I was lost in my sniffing again, and my human mother was talking to Mother Earth.
“Mother Earth I pray, let us have this wish I say. Give to me that which I need to give my Baby Bubba his fence with great speed.”
After a while Mommy began to get tired, and tugging me along with her said, “Come on Bubba I got to go in now. I promise to bring you out again soon.”
I did not really want to go. I knew that creature I smelled was not far away and I wanted to do more investigation, but I knew I must obey my mommy so even though I was not in my harness I took her back to the door straight away giving one more big “CA-CHEW!” of displeasure at having my sniffing interrupted as I went.
Now we’re back inside and Mommy is “Straightening up my room.”
Although I wish she would “Leave it!” I am grateful that I have my own room and to my human mother for making sure that was so when we moved.
I do love her so very much.
Now she is singing my Bubba Song, so I must go.
She will be looking for me soon wanting to love and snuggle.
I must not let her catch me here.
Thanks for stopping in here at campbellsworld and come again real soon to see what we might be up to next.
As Mommy always says…
May harmony find you and blessid be.

Author Bio
Patty Lyne Fletcher in her own words (October 2017
About me and my crew
I’m a single mother with a beautiful daughter, of whom I am very proud. I have a great son-in-law and five beautiful grandchildren. Three girls, and two boys. I hope to be able to write more about them later on. I own and handle a Black Labrador from The Seeing Eye™ named Campbell Lee—a.k.a. Bubba Lee or King Campbell, to give just a couple of his nicknames.
About my blindness
I was born one and a half months premature. My blindness was caused by my being given too much oxygen in the incubator. I was partially sighted until 1991, at which time I lost my sight due to an infection after cataract surgery and high eye pressure. I used a cane for 31 years before making the change to a guide dog.
Where I live and work
Currently, I live and work in Kingsport, Tenn. I used to work for CONTACT-CONCERN of Northeast Tennessee, Inc. I left that position in order to spend time with family and pursue my writing full time.
Why I write.
I wrote Campbell’s Rambles: How a Seeing Eye Dog Retrieved My Life to tell the story of how going to The Seeing Eye™ and getting Campbell, learning to love, handle, and work him, then coming home and adding him to my life, gave me true freedom. I tell of how changing from being a 31-year cane user to being a guide dog handler taught me things about myself I had never known before. I tell of the wonderment I experienced when I finally took that chance.
A major goal of mine is to help others who find themselves in domestic violence situations. I also want to help others learn more about mental illnesses and how different situations and environments can drastically affect those with such challenges. I tell how training affected me physically as a result of the fibromyalgia I deal with, along with the side effects of the medications I take. I focus on bipolar disorder, on how it can go horribly wrong and cause a person to behave in ways they normally would not.
Another thing I have attempted to show is how, in certain institutional settings, attachments can develop—and how those attachments can become unhealthy for all concerned if they are not handled correctly. Most simply, I want others to know more about me.
In Bubba Tails From the Puppy Nursery At The Seeing Eye, it is King Campbell Super Seeing Eye Dog A.K.A Bubba’s turn to tell his tale.
While helping to ready a group of pups to go and meet their puppy raiser families, so they too, might one-day become Seeing Eye dogs, he tells of what it was like for him, to grow up and become a Seeing Eye dog.
My hobbies
My hobbies include reading, writing, music, and standup comedy. I also like nature walks, light hiking, tent camping, and fishing. No, I am not afraid to bait a hook.
Music I enjoy
My favorite types of music are classic rock, rhythm and blues, and classic country, as well as some present-day country music. I also like meditation music.
My favorite books and authors
I enjoy fantasy, science fiction, and books about the supernatural. I love the books by Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and many more. My favorite books include
Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series, and J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings series.
My spiritual faith
I am a spiritual walker. I claim no particular faith, either Christian or pagan. I simply know that there is God and Goddess, or Mother Father God, as some call her/him. I lean toward the natural approach, or Druidism (Druidry), as it promotes harmony and respect for all beings, including the environment. I am also very interested in herbs and their healing properties.

  1. Laughing out loud. Oopse, I shouldn’t be leaving a comment. Your mom will get an email saying there’s a comment to this post, and she’ll say, “What! I didn’t write this post. What’s WordPress up to now?” Oh well…

    • Patty says:

      Oh Hello Human Abbie.

      It is OK.

Mom slept late this morning, and I have moved this comment to my secret Bubba Tails Items folder.

      All is well.

Thanks so much for reading, and I am glad that I made you laugh.

I love making humans laugh. It makes my tail wag round and round in big circles.

      King Campbell’s Human Mother here.

He only believes he has snuck.

Truth of the matter is he is a better author than am I and his book, Bubba Tails gets more sales and is in better shape than is mine.
