Good afternoon campbellsworld visitors, and authors everywhere.
Here at Tell-It-To-The-World Marketing, where we support talented authors, as well as successful business owners in their marketing, by marrying social media, with more traditional approaches,
the goal is to help the client market their Book, Blog, or Business to the very best of their ability.
One of the best ways for me to do this, is to share tips with my clients, so that they can define the services I provide them, to better meet their needs.
Today I’ve a couple topics I’d like to talk about. I hope you’ll read this, and if you’ve thoughts concerning these topics that you will share them with me.
I’ve been working on this post for a while and have just this day been inspired to finish.
I’d like to add this speaks primarily to authors since I’ve not as of yet begun working with someone who has a different type of business.
Information: Too Little Too Much
Since I’ve begun promoting folks I find I receive information in two ways, and that there is no happy middle.
Either someone sends me very little info about themselves and that which they’re wishing to promote, or they send so much info that there’s no way anyone will ever read it all.
Now, before I go on let me just say that a media kit is something everyone should have, but there are in my mind two kinds.
The extended version.
The one that tells it all, includes all your books, review quotes, social media links, you know, the whole-nine-yards.
the condensed version that simply lists your books, a website that will take the reader to all of them, and your best contact info.
When is the extended version the right version to use?
Your extended version media kit is the one you want on your blog, main website, author home page or all-of-the-above.
You want to have this available for publications such as my Tell-It-To-The-World Books and Those Who Make Them Happen Catalog, or in a News and Literary Magazine of some type.
Those are also good when shopping for an agent or marketer.
Of course, upon request.
When is a condensed version recommended?
A condensed version media kit is best used when seeking Talk-Show Podcast or guest blogger spots unless otherwise requested.
The agent, marketer, or publisher is going to want to know pretty much everything about you but maybe what color your underwear is.
The person reading your home pages is going to be looking for details.
The talk-show or blogger host is probably going to get something like one-jillion submissions and is going to want a more condensed version.
Something I try to obtain from my clients is one of each.
Now, this info is simply according to my experience, and marketing style.
I can say that when I first began and was always sending out extended versions of folk’s media kits I found I received a lot of letters saying, “I’m sorry this is too much information.”
Again, if you’ve got thoughts or suggestions, I’d love to hear from you. Marketing is always a work in progress and I certainly do not claim to know all.
Keeping In Touch and Providing Advertising Content
Another thing I seem to run into quite a bit are people who do not stay in touch, and who do not provide me with advertising content.
It is important to keep in touch with those who are marketing you. Your marketer is not normally going to go and hunt things to promote for you. If they do they’re going to charge a whole lot more than do I.
I provide my clients with a list of ways to promote, and a schedule of when things go out, as well as requests for information on persons, or places they’d like to have me contact on their behalf.
If you’re going to have a sale, this is something those marketing you should have information for.
This information should come at least two-weeks in advance.
If you’re going to be in an event, you need to give those marketing you advanced notice, so they can make sure to get the word out as quickly and efficiently as is possible.
Again, if you’ve thoughts, or suggestions I’d really love to hear them.
I’m always looking for new and unique ways to promote my totally talented clients, and well, me.
Well, that’s all I have for today. Got a bunch of things to get done, and a totally talented list of clients to tell the world about.
Thanks for dropping in, and I hope you’ll let me know what you think.
If you enjoyed this, please use the pretty little buttons after the post to share.
Make sure to keep reading to find out more about Tell-It-To-The-World Marketing.

Multi-genre Author Phyllis Staton Campbell says:
When I released my book in October, I knew from bitter experience, that high quality publicity is the key to success. Tell-It-To-The-World Marketing offered just such publicity, through extensive Multimedia exposure at a price, less than a daily cup of coffee.
What has this exposure meant in dollars and cents? This is always hard to know, since exposure on one BLOG can mean exposure on another, with far reaching publicity. All I know is that I’m selling books. My book was picked to be featured at Book Expo America, in the spring, and I feel that it was noticed due to Patty Fletcher’s efforts through her Tell-It-To-The-World Marketing. I can’t recommend Tell-It-To-The-World Marketing too highly to anyone seeking quality publicity at an affordable price.

And, from Jo E. Pinto, Author of The Bright Side of Darkness:
Patty Fletcher has promoted my book for several months. She is innovative, thorough, and easy to work with. I appreciate her straightforward communication style. She lets me know exactly what she needs from me as a client, and she isn’t afraid to tell me when I should push myself harder and when I should take it easy on myself. Her prices are very reasonable, and she does a great job of finding new and different publicity opportunities.
