If you are a writer, you need to be reading “On Writing”
Stephen King.
This book is funny, and informative.
He pulls no punches and speaks to the art of writing and the fact that it is hard, time consuming and requires you to do more than just publish a book.
So, do yourself a favor and read that book.
If you have read it and it has been more than a year since you read it, read it again.
I also recommend you start making time to read something every-day.
Turn off the idiot box and read a book.
Just voicing my opinion.
I’ve learned some very valuable things this go round reading this book, and I’ve added several books to my reading list since I’ve been reading.
You can make one-hundred excuses why you’re not reading, or you can read.
If you only read 15 minutes a day you need to be reading.
I’ve always known this, but had it confirmed yet again this day.
Another thing, if you wrote a book and you’re just waiting for someone to magically learn of you and your book and you’re not busting your hump marketing that book, you need treated for delusional disorders.
People look at an ad, toss it aside.
If they are not hearing from you, and they are not engaged with you, and they do not feel connected with you in some way they are not at all gonna buy your book.
How many times have you read, or heard an ad and said, “Gods, I’ve heard this one-hundred time. When are they gonna say something new?”
Put yourself in the shoes of your readers and get out there and make it happen.
Lastly, if you want me to market you you are gonna sweat. You are going to provide that content for me to advertise and if you do not then I’m going to set you aside and go onto other folks who are willing to work hard to make it happen.
If you are someone working with me and you are doing these things you don’t have to worry, but you can pass this along to someone else.
I have spent the morning reading emails filled with bull shit excuses why people cannot do this thing or that thing.
I do not have the time nor energy to deal with it and am not going to do it.
That is all!

I wrote this back in March.
Today I’ve read about six blog posts from people making a bunch of excuses when they ought to be doing something productive.
    So I’m reblogging.
If this steps on your toes. You might want to ask yourself why.
