Hello troops. Sarge here.
As you were.
This Saturday is Veterans Day. I’d like to take a moment to salute and thank our service members. I hope you will, too.
Did you know that the history of The Seeing Eye® – as well as the use of guide dogs in general–is deeply intertwined with military veterans? And German Shepherds, of course. It’s true. You can read more about that history here.

The Seeing Eye was born out of the German effort to care for their blinded World War I veterans. The guide dog movement really took off in the U.S. because of World War II veterans.
We still work closely with blinded veterans, whether they are blinded through war, accidents, or eye disease. Underwritten by your generous donations, we provide veterans with training, dogs and support at virtually no cost (well, we charge them $1).
Donors and veterans, thank you both. Just like humans and dogs, you make a great team.

Tango Yankee,
— Sarge
