This has been an amazing awesome day to say the least.
First off we woke round 6-AM and had a great time waking up together. As usual both boys, Campbell and Bob Cat were in bed with me when the alarm went off. Neither of them were moving very quick, which actually gave me time to get the coffee going and slightly awake before they began clambering for their breakfast, and to go out. Once everyone had been fed, and Campbell and I had made our trip around the yard, my coffee was done, and it was time to see what was going on in the rest of the world.
I checked the weather, and took a quick look at the headlines, then it was off to get ready for the day. Once I was dressed, I took some time to check email more carefully, along with Facebook, and Twitter. Then I looked over the information I’d gathered from the Project Starfish Writer’s Guild, and afterward it was time to began gathering our things for our morning out. Once everything was gathered and by the door, I took Campbell and out we went to wait on the porch in the wonderful morning spring air. The birds were singing, and the air was already starting to warm.
When our van arrived we were truly off on an adventure. We were due at Johnson Elementary for a morning of ‘Stop and Read On Campbell’s Corner.’
What is this? You ask. Let me tell you all about it. Campbell and I are going to be volunteering in the school, letting children of all different ages and learning abilities read to Campbell. It is our hope this will increase the children’s love for reading, and maybe even one day writing. We also hope to increase their class participation and self confidence.
Campbell loved it and to be quite honest so did I.
We were only there for a little over an hour but the time went by so quickly that it seemed like only minutes until it was over and we were calling our van to go home.
I have to say it was so far the highlight of our week.
Tomorrow we have a Saint Patrick’s Day party to attend at Friendship Connection in the day, and then tomorrow evening we are to be at Lincoln Elementary for a wellness fair. The coordinator of this event wrote me today to say she had listed us as ‘Patty Fletcher In Campbell’s World.’ You cannot possibly know how proud that did make me. She’d gone and read all about us, and what we are doing on our blog, and I am more than thrilled.
The volunteer work I am doing for the school, Project Starfish, and the Northeast Tennessee disABILITY Resource Center is surely going to expand us in ways like none before.
Speaking of the Northeast Tennessee disABILITY Resource Center, they have let me know that I am to meet with them on March 24TH to fill out their project grant request for AmeriCorps Vista and we’re all hopeful that I will be working for them soon as a Vista. I have two years yet to serve as a Vista and wouldn’t it be awesome if I were able to serve them there?
Everyone keep your fingers crossed, and say a prayer for prosperity and we shall see. In either case things are seriously looking up for us and we are all glad.
What part does Bob Cat play in all this? He keeps the home well guarded, and is always ready with purrs and snuggles for me and Campbell at the end of what are turning out to be rather busy spring days.
Blessid Be to all who have been cheering us along our way!
